My name is Johanna Heltsley, but most people just call me Jo. I am married to a wonderful, Godly man, whom the Lord blessed me with, nearly 15 years ago. I am honored to inform you, that he is a United States Marine Corp Veteran, who vowed his love for this country, and would have laid down his life for it. Together, we have 3 handsome sons, in whom, we do our best to instill Biblical and decent morals, along with a patriotic love for the America we once knew.
My husband and I come from rare family units... there is no divorce among our parents or grandparents. We strive to uphold that same principle for our boys. God did not give us the promise of an easy marriage, however, the Bible is definative about what a marriage is. It is a Godly union between one woman and one man, at one time. With that being settled, God does, in turn, promise to uphold that sacred union and help us along our married journey, should we chose to reverence our marriages and hold them steadfast as a Christ-centered bond of love.
As you can plainly see, I am passionate about this cause of defending traditional marriage in North Carolina. I am a Tarheel, born and bred. I adore my state and my country. I remember, as a child, hearing great tales about my Great Uncle Emory and his cousins, defending this land during WWII, at the Battle of the Bulge, in particular. I am inspired by these great men and their willingness to uphold and defend what is right, in the eyes of the law and the Lord.
I do not believe defending the traditional institution of marriage was ever on the minds of our founding forefathers, yet it has become such a pressing issue, as of late.
The reality is, the founders of America are no longer here to defend what they created, so it falls upon the shoulders of us loyal Patriots, who are left to stand in the gap! Are you willing to stand with us to raise your voice in support of taking America back from the socialist liberals, who are demanding that we surrender OUR land, OUR values, and OUR freedoms? One or two voices will not be heard, but if a nation of Fundamental Conservatives will ban together to proclaim our disgust with the direction this nation is heading, then we are certain to NOT be overlooked.
My goal in this grass roots effort is not for me, I am established in my own rights, however, I am taking a stand to protect, my children and grandchildren from tyrannical rule, that their ancestors fought and died to overcome.
Americans, and more closely, North Carolinians, we need to WAKE UP and realize how deceived our nation and state is. We are no longer the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave!" Instead, we have silently succumbed to creeping devients who come disguised as politicians, who claim to be "our voice!" We have become too politically correct for our own good. We have been silent for way too long...it is high time that we raise our voice for our American right to vote on important issues, such as maintaining traditional marriage as between One Man. One Woman. That's It!
My name is Diane Bridgman and I have a passion for God's design of marriage. A very strong passion. It is not because of what I witnessed growing up or experienced personally, even though my marriage is a rare kind of wonderful. I am protective of it because it is God's plan. His Word defines it clearly in Genesis 2:23, 24. It is: One Man. One Woman. That's It. I believe He expects us to defend it.
God transformed and revolutionized my life and I have promised my life of service in return. Speaking out for the protection of marriage is one thing He is leading me to do. I will raise my voice to those who determine to destroy this beautiful God plan. A country can never be stronger than its family unit and so I am crying out for my beloved America to defend traditional marriage.
The idea for this rally began as a group of us stood at the Halifax Mall, in Raleigh, NC, on March 3, 2009 in an effort to try to get the attention of the lawmakers for a chance to vote for an amendment to protect marriage. We want the opportunity that 30 other states have been given. We know that it will pass overwhelmingly like it has in those states. Our lawmakers had to see us from those windows. A fever was born and we came home to plan our own rally. We are expecting a large crowd and we are very excited to see the results.
My hope is that other little pockets of conservative activists will rise up across this nation and pull out all the stops to protect our marriage and families. We have stood by silent for too long. When I lay my head on my pillow at night I want to know that I have done all that I can. I cannot have peace otherwise.
One Man. One Woman. That's It. Please join your voice with ours, North Carolina.
We LUV Marriage
is a grass roots conservative committee made of of many.
Our Committee has been blessed with two Executive Directors, who not only work alongside each other for the same purpose, but also work together extremely complimentary.
Jo and Diane truly balance one another, thus covering all areas concerning this issue of defending traditional marriage in NC!
We would also like to acknowlege Rev. Van Mitchell, Sr., for all of his, love, prayers and support for our efforts. It was his passion and pride for American justice that has fueled our flames.
"The inspiration for the 'We L.U.V. Marriage' committee and rally began at the Raleigh legislative Building Mall area on a cold, snowy day, during a NC4Marriage Rally. I thought how impactive it would be on the legislators to rally in their towns and on their streets, so they will be awakened to the seriousness of this issue. The hour is late and our actions seem small compared to the challenges, but we are reminded that God and 'One' are the majority."
